In Big Pumpkin by Erica Schindler, students explore how a little bat uses brains over brawn in this not-so-scary Halloween picture book! We practice theme-based vocabulary such as pumpkin, witch, and ghost while modeling useful core words like “pull,” “big,” “like,” and “stop." Students can also make comments throughout the story using phrases such as “Oh no!” “Turn the page,” “funny” and “don’t like!”
The included literacy and extension activities provide additional opportunities to practice communication, early writing, spelling, counting, fine motor skills and predictable chart writing.
