School Theme Core Word Books- August

Back to  Month Home

The Core Word Reader Series is designed to support emergent readers, AAC users, and students in special education classrooms through simple, engaging books built around high-frequency core words, sight words, and meaningful classroom themes. Each book provides repeated language opportunities, clear visuals, and accessible text to help students participate in shared reading while building vocabulary, comprehension, communication, and early writing skills.

Each reader includes:

A printable core word book with simple, repeated text
Target core/sight words and theme-based vocabulary
AAC partner prompts for modeling language during reading
Reading reminders and talking tips
A communication board for students who do not yet have robust AAC access
Start-up tips for teachers
ELA and AAC standards alignment support
Shared writing or extension ideas

These books can be used during whole-group instruction, small groups, speech therapy, literacy centers, classroom themes, or AAC modeling activities. Students can respond using speech, gestures, pointing, AAC devices, communication boards, drawing, writing, or partner-assisted support.
